We're back and recovering from two traveling weekends.
Two weekends ago we had a short visit to NYC to visit Patricia. We had so much and a few adventures!
Mike and I flew in on Saturday morning and then spent the majority of the day at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was very neat and we were both glad we got to experience it. Saturday night we went to the Amsale fashion show and looked at all the pretty wedding dresses, while Patricia worked away in the back. I wishfully pondered which dress would be my 5 year wedding dress :) It was a fabulous show and we went out with two of Patricia's friends afterwards for some much needed food and alcohol.
Sunday we spent some time with Patricia at the apartment and then ventured out to the NYC Transit Museum. It was so cool! We walked the Promenade in Brooklyn and then headed off to Manhattan to find some rodizio. Unfortunately the Brazilian food did not pan out and we went to a favorite Indian restaurant, Mtali's. Mike and Patricia had it out with our awful waiter and created a memory that I will not soon forget.
Monday, we attempted, might I emphasize the attempted, to find Mike jeans. Even Manhattan couldn't put jeans on him! One of the neatest things we did was ride the subway through an out of service stop that used to be amazing! It was so cool we did it twice. Then homeward bound. Super fun weekend!
This last weekend we spent our Saturday and Sunday in Cleveland with Mike's family. Saturday we got to visit with almost everyone and we stayed over at cousins Nick & Juli's house. Sunday was the main event. Juli's baby shower. It was a really lovely shower and Juli got tons of presents! Then just a bit more visiting before we headed home. Highlights of the weekend were our first wii playing experiences and a heavenly dinner with Juli and Abbe, lobster risotto, yum!
Pictures from both.

RACE FOR THE CURE!
I'm not sure that I've mentioned yet, but my mom and I have been working out together. It has been great trying to whip her into shape now that she has lost over 100 pounds!
I gave her a big challenge that we are completing together at the end of the month. We are doing the Lansing, MI Susan G Komen Race for the Cure on April 27th! I'm so excited for this big challenge. Please think of us often and send prayers to keep mom going!
You can also support the cause by going to my race website - Becki's Page

Blessings
Last night I got to thinking about blessings. I have so many lately that I seem to have lost track. It's funny how the generosity of one person can make you think about all the other blessings you have.
Little things like eggs and milk from our animals.
A husband that will help me build a beautiful home.
People who care about health like I do.
People who are generous with their time.
Ground that I can plant a garden in.
Tulips, hyacinths and irises that appear through the snow.
A workplace where I can update my blog and not get in trouble.
Great teachers.
So many things that I couldn't do without.

Spring...
I can't believe it's spring already. It hasn't felt much like spring here in Michigan. It was snowing only a day ago. It is certainly been a trying couple of months. From illness in humans to illnesses in animals, we have been having a hard time at the Keenan residence. We had a very big tragedy at our small farm. Vernors, one of the Nubian goats that we received as a wedding present, has died. It was a very long horrible weekend as she withered away and we couldn't help her. We are also having various problems with Pepsi and Bell. Pepsi has a lame foot and Bell got some sort of respiratory infection and cough.
We were lucky to be able to borrow Opal, an Alpine goat, from our great friend Mandy. Opal had just had a kid when Vernors died and Mandy offered her to us for the milk. What a blessing. Opal and her kid (I named him Ned, an Alpine LaMancha cross) have been a real mood upswing to a very dismal end of winter and beginning of spring. Opal is very sweet on the milk stand and producing well. Even though Pepsi and Opal do not exactly love each other, everyone seems to be getting along. We have in the process of all this found the need to make big changes in some of our practices and hopefully they will lead to a more successful summer.
The kitchen finishing has been moving slowly as well. We found a great contractor to do our cement counter tops. www.decorativeconcretemichigan.com We are looking forward to getting him over to measure everything up and get it started! We could have had him begin much earlier, but we had a tough time deciding on a sink. We finally bought one last weekend and hopefully we can get Jeff out next week to get our counter top started! Mike and Dad have made great strides this week as well. They added 3 can lights for additional lighting in front of the pantry, above the stove and above the back cabinet. Mike also got one of the under-counter lights installed last night. It's so amazing to be able to see what you're cooking! Hopefully we can get the counter and trim done soon...
We had a great weekend with some of the Dodd family a couple of weeks ago and a quick visit from Doug and Christy. More on these in the next post. We are really looking forward to a fun weekend with Mom Keenan. She may be coming up for a visit today!
I have taken pictures of the kitchen and the goats. I will post them soon.

Kitchen!
Well it's finally that time. There looks like actual there might be a kitchen in the near future. The floor is done, the walls are painted, the cabinets are put together, the plumbing is in. In the last week I have gotten two blessings from the heavens (and hard work by Mike and Dad) I have a temporary sink and a running dishwasher! It's the most amazing thing to be able to rinse a dish off without struggling. And even more amazing is the ability to put the dish in the dishwasher and not have to look at it! I LOVE IT! I've put some pictures below and will try to get some of what it looks like right now with the cabinets in. We are currently shopping for a new stove and trying to decide upon counter top. Can't wait...
I have been on a serious hiatus, so an update for you:
We had a lovely holiday and then vacation to Florida with the whole Moore clan. Disney with Samone, Joe and Walker, not to mention Mike was a blast! Pictures below. The camera died for good on vacation and we have decided on a shiny new one that we will order soon. I'm in my second semester of Portuguese and all is going well so far. Mike was rather happy to have been successful in his hunting endeavors. He got two does on the last day of the season. We have venison in our freezer for this year, yum!
The next item on the docket is the next Make & Freeze. This time there are 14 people participating. Wow! Hopefully it goes just as well as last time or better.
I also am beginning planning for a little birthday celebration for Mr. Keenan. Waiting for the big anniversary as well! Can't believe it's been a whole year. Busy busy....

In November, the snow starts to fly, piling up ankle high.
Come December, it's up to your knee, still a bride's a bride-to-be. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Thanksgiving in Ohio was great. It was a long and late drive down on Wednesday night, but nice to be able to ride along to Cleveland on Thursday. Thanksgiving dinner at the Stephenson's was full of fun, love and excitement. The excitement came in two types, firstly Nick and Juli are PREGNANT! Secondly, Aunt Debbi and Uncle Bob brought all kinds of glass and pottery to give away! It was so much fun. The goats and chickens weren't far behind, supplying eggs and chevre cheese to the masses.
The rest of the weekend was filled with a visit to the Zoo to see the "Wild Lights", over 3 million lights were up. It was so neat to see all the animals taking naps, or in some cases with the nocturnal ones, up and about! We also had an early sibling Christmas as we will all be apart this year. I got a fantastic salt and pepper shaker set from Patricia that were chicken feet! I love them. Also Christy and Doug found the most gorgeous butterfly pin for me in New Orleans. Mike got a great jacket from Christy and Doug as well. Momma and Poppa Keenan will be running the roads to visit all of us for individual Christmas celebrations this year. We're up first with a December 15-16 Keenan Christmas.
My first Portuguese class is almost over. I have done pretty well I think. Eu fala português muito bom! Can't wait to have a break though. Have a lot to catch up on, including working in the kitchen.
The kitchen re-modeling is coming along, slowly but surely. We have most of the floorboards replaced and are going to have to order filler in bulk to fill all the cracks and holes! I am taking a day off on Monday, so I can have 3 days to refinish the floor. Hopefully, I get it all done!
Lastly, I organized the 3rd successful Make & Freeze. The menu was 10 dishes. With many more people than last time. 12 different people were making all or some of the dishes! And from experience I can tell you shopping for that amount of food isn't easy. It also draws a lot of odd looks and questions when you pile 45 lbs of brisket and 30 lbs of ground turkey in a cart that is already full!
Well the camera is back in semi-working order. Check out the new pictures... the album also includes pictures from our October Columbus Zoo visit courtesy of Momma K.
